Founder and CEO

Since 2014, it has been dedicated to helping organizations, communities, and families create effective mental health, behavioral health, and substance use disorder recovery solutions through tailored treatment planning and placement.

He is a Master Spirit Life Coach, Addiction Recovery Coach, and Emotional Intelligence Coach with several ICF-accredited coaching certifications. He entered sobriety on January 6, 2010, and is deeply passionate about helping others achieve long-term recovery and reach their personal recovery goals.

To address a critical gap in the treatment industry, Orlando founded Recovery Matters. The company focuses on providing supportive, long-term aftercare that increases recovery capital and leads to superior recovery outcomes.

Welcome to the path of self-advocacy in behavioral health and recovery. With a background in addiction and abuse, I offer a supportive, non-judgmental space to explore thoughts, emotions, and goals.

Combining evidence-based techniques with compassionate guidance, I help individuals facing anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction build resilience, self-awareness, and healthier coping strategies. Together, we’ll navigate challenges, celebrate progress, and empower you to reclaim your life and reach your full potential.

Daniel D. Sumrok, MD, FAAFP, ABPM, ABAM, DFASAM
Medical Consultant

Daniel began his medical career as a US Navy Hospital Corpsman during the Vietnam War. While in uniform, he trained as a nurse, a PA, and a physician.

As an Army officer and later a US Public Health Services officer, Dr. Sumrok began treating addictions in the 1990s. He was among the first 106 North American physicians certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine. He trained in Boston at Harvard-affiliated hospitals for over a year before becoming ASAM-certified.

From 1991 to 2022, he served at the University of Tennessee, where he established the Addiction Science Center. In7, it was recognized as the first US Center of Excellence for training physicians in addiaddictione. His favorite topic is talking about the neurobehaviors of substance use disorders as consequences of trauma.
